There are certain things in life that we want…like a great body, a new job, a happy relationship… We know that it takes work though and maybe even a little discomfort, so we put it off because we just can’t seem to get motivated.

Does the Art of Procrastination look like this for you?

When you’re feeling frumpy…the last thing you want to do is put on your running shoes, so you have coffee instead and tell yourself that you’ll start tomorrow…or next week.

When you’re overwhelmed with work…you don’t want to take the time to sit down and polish up your resume, so you bitch about your job to your friends over a glass of wine instead.

When you’re lonely…it’s easy to sit on the couch with a pint of ice cream and feel that you’ll never find love as you watch the Bachelor and laugh at how screwed up everyone else is.

But you still REALLY want these great things, right?

So…How Do I Get Motivated??

I have many clients ask me “I want to work out and get healthy, but Tami, how do I get motivated?

They want to change, but hold themselves back because they’re waiting for some brilliant flash of light. They’ll suddenly be whistling dixie and go after what they really want in life.

I wish I could bottle up motivation and sell it, but it doesn’t work that way. The path to motivation is action.  Tweet that!

To get motivated with your workouts, you just have to workout. It’s that simple (and fucking annoying).

I know that I will go through phases where I overindulged, everything’s tight, and my workouts (if I go) are pretty uninspired. I find though after about 2 weeks, I feel better, I’m happier, I eat better and even some days, I’ll work out TWICE!

It’s like I blink and and am suddenly motivated!

Each action feeds off of itself and generates more motivation. Your change inspires others and then you feed off of their positive comments. It fuels your fire to get motivated.

To feel satisfied with your job, you need to figure out how to make your current situation better or take action to find something new. Complaining only breeds more misery.

If you want a happy relationship, you have to start with being happy yourself. Your positive energy will radiate and you’ll attract more happiness, including love, in your life.

I know it all feels ass-backwards, but it’s true. And it’s magic. Trust me!
